President’s Report
TCA held their AGM on August 24 at the Tomakin Club. I would like to say a very BIG thank you to the Committee who worked so hard last year on making a difference to our community. I am delighted to announce that I was re-elected as the President and the other three Executive-members who are continuing on (elected unopposed also) are: Liz Patterson-Clout as Vice President, Anne Kenney as Secretary and Justin Scowen as Treasurer. Sadlly some of our Committee members were unable to continue and we thank them most sincerely for the work they did to support the TCA. Their input will be missed. The Committee did welcome a new member, Tim Paul who will head up the IT sub-committee.
One of our biggest challenges this past year has been maintaining the beach accesses following recent extreme weather events. TCA has been working closely with Council to identify and remedy any damage.
The improvements made to our financial reporting, governance, administration, record keeping and infrastructure have been of huge benefit.
The Community Day was a resounding success we look forward to this year’s event. In November.
The Tomakin Calendar again proved popular with another photo competition planned for 2026 for the 2027 calendar. The Bunnings BBQ managed by Linda Sipeki and her family continues to bring in good revenue. Thank you, Linda and Co.
The Triathlon once again brought in great profit and I thank all those who volunteered on the day. We note there were some issues of crowd and athletes damaging the Spit. The triathlon organisers and Council are working together to ensure this does not happen again. The next triathlon is on 1 February 2026.
Those of you who were here at the last AGM may recall that TCA was facing a huge battle with the ATO for non-lodgement of tax returns for over 20 years. After much red tape and runaround, I am happy to report that this issue has been sorted out. TCA is completely up to date with lodgements.
We are always looking at ways to engage with our community and increase our membership. Any comments you have will be most welcome.
Cheers
Daphne Cole
President
